November 29, 2006:

I decided to reconsider the name of my new project. Gnomes' Summerhouse was a good guess but, I know it sounds weird, I still can't feel the spirits I need to feel when I spell it. When I listen to the new material and think of this name I feel that they have no strong contact, not strong enough. I think I know the real name, it came to me spontaneously one day in the forest when I fancied of what the music of northern seas should sound like. Now I think that all the spirit of my new music is concentrated in this word, though it's unlikely I'll tell it for sure before the very release of the new album.

September 30, 2006:

The 2002's album The Voice of Peregrination has been finally officially released! This release has several differences from the original edition: all the tracks were remastered, the 6 of 11 tracks were rearranged, a never-released-before bonus track "The Touch of Pegasus" was added and the whole package design has been changed.

The CD is available at the Efenstor's online store: www.cafepress.com/efenstor_music

August 18, 2006:

The latest album Myths has been released in 2004, since then many things have changed (to better). The most important is that all the music now recorded live instead of rendered from samples, it has lost all the heavy guitars but acquired a mighty shamanic drum as well as a bundle of other unusual instruments and even vocals. Though my wild fantasy hasn't changed ;) the basic musical concept has turned from powerful to atmospheric and thus I considered it logical to freeze the project Efenstor and open a new project!

Sincerely thy forever and aye
Andrey "Efenstor" Pivovarov

July 18, 2006:

June 24, 2006:

Four new photos added.

May 27, 2006:

One more demo is here: Schelskiy Sklon. Schelskiy Sklon is one of my favourite places at the Schelskiy Ruchey brook (see the photo).

May 24, 2006:

Two new demos are available: Spells of Thunderstorm and the full version of The Northern Flowers.

April 28, 2006:

The photo gallery The Yenisei Krai is online. See the nature of Efenstor's native land through his own eyes!

By the way, the demo recordings of two songs are already complete.

April 6, 2006:

The biography has been edited and updated.

March 26, 2006:

The first demo of a composition from the new album is available (look the Downloads page). The song is called The Northern Flowers, there is only three first minutes in the demo.

I plan to record all the song demos until the summer and to record the album in June/July. The album will be recorded at the Istrolldommen Studios (it's my rural cottage that will temporarily become a studio) and partly at home. I will also need to do many field recordings in April/May.

It's also very likely that the new album won't be signed "Efenstor". It will be a beginning of a new musical project and the end of the project "Efenstor" (yet my nickname remains intact).

There is a lot of work ahead so don't expect much news in the following two or three months.

Sincerely thy, forever and aye
Efenstor.

February 14, 2006:

A minimalistically-influenced piano rhapsody Milky Way added to the downloads. A small starry tune to illuminate your romantic feelings. :) Dedicated to all astronomy lovers.

January 12, 2006:

If you wish, you may visit a new small Efenstor's web-project: a Russian-Chukchi Phrasebook.

December 25, 2005:

Merry Christmas!

Enjoy another Siberian khomus tune: Alatau. Alatau is a common name for many Siberian massifs, literally it means dappled mountains in Turkic.

December 17, 2005:

To keep the guestbook SPAM-free all new entries are now moderated before publishing, usually it takes 1-3 days.

December 11, 2005:

Happy holidays! The 9 best old songs (1998-2002) have been added to the Downloads section.

The new 2005 version of Myths of the Wild. Cliffs in the Forest video has been published. The video is available for download in four formats, including the high-quality 1500 kbps DivX version.

October 30, 2005:

The Foxes and the Dawn has been mastered and now is in a good quality.

October 28, 2005:

Added two new demo recordings: Kovyl'-Trava (Feather-Grass) and The Foxes and the Dawn, both played on the Efenstor's Odolen'-Trava ocarina. The ocarina was made at the Feniks pottery workshop by the master Sergevna (Natalya Sergeyeva) and fine-tuned by Efenstor.

October 7, 2005:

A very high quality (1500 kbps DivX) version of the Dauðurá: the Dead River video has been published.

October 5, 2005:

The prices for all the CD's have been lowered: now a jewel-case version with a booklet costs $10 and a paper sleeve version costs $6.

October 3, 2005:

Now you can buy the Myths (2004) CD in a paper sleeve at the Efenstor's Online Shop for only $8.95! The other two albums will be also available in paper sleeves soon.

October 1, 2005:

The new video clip for one of the most popular Efenstor's metal songs is here: Dauðurá: the Dead River. Also the old video for Myths of the Wild. Cliffs in the Forest has been re-encoded in the full progressive PAL framerate of 50 fps to achieve the additional motion realism.

July 29, 2005:

Tried a new choir overdub technique and it had appeared to be just amazing! Download the "Troll" sample (only 21 second length) and listen. All vocals are sung by Efenstor... yes, there are NO female vocals, it's just an illusion! I've sung six dubs in low pitch and six one octave higher, the rest is the secret!

June 28, 2005:

The new pre-production sample called "Dream of Thunderstorm" is here. The song's sounding differs from the previous samples: it is somewhat gloomy, much better arranged still rather short because it's just a try. Also in this one you can hear some new authentic instruments: the shamanic drum of master Charkov from Khakassia and the Yakut khomus of master Mandarov (refined and tuned by Efenstor) as well as the stone castanets and some orchestra (keyboards). As usually all played by Efenstor.

May 19, 2005:

Several new verses, both in English and in Russian, have been added to the Poetry section.

Due to active SPAMming in the Guestbook the anti-spam protective timeout has been increased to 6 hours.

May 10, 2005:

Several photos of Efenstor added to the Misc section.

April 27, 2005:

All the CD's that are for sale in the Efenstor's Music Shop have been slightly remastered, mostly because of the CafePress' shot in the eye with the undeclared 2-second pauses between all tracks — the new editions of the albums are mastered with these darn pauses in mind. The new edition of "Myths" also has slightly improved quality in the last two acoustic tracks "Will He Rest in Avalon" and "Forest Abbey of the Lost Wanderers".

"Myths" CD is now for sale at AMPCAST! Those of you who are ready to sacrifice the colourful CD plate and $2 for the extra sound quality buy "Myths" from AMPCAST. At CafePress the 192 kbps MP3's have been used as the source for the CD tracks, at AMPCAST they are 256 kbps; though in both cases the MP3's were encoded keeping the full frequency range. At AMPCAST you can also listen to the lo-fi version of the whole album and buy separate tracks in the MP3 format for $1 each. Go to the Efenstor's AMPCAST page for details.

April 9, 2005:

Out of the Caves!

The work on issuing the 2003's album "Out of the Caves!" is finally finished! Remastering of the album has been done in 192 kHz and 32 bits using the specially pre-edited highest-quality versions of source modules. The three full-length MP3's are available from the Downloads section. The price of the CD is $12.95, it is available only from the Efenstor's Music Shop.

March 24, 2005:

The new pre-production track with khomus and throat singing has been added: Song of Stars. Beware of a truly shamanic session! Whole track has been recorded in one pass without mixing (I was playing khomus and singing simultaneously), some effects have been added later. The quality is rather well though certain ambient noises can be heard in several places.

March 8, 2005:

Detailed description of the "Myths" album has been added (CD design and explanations for each track).

March 3, 2005:

Both small and large versions of the Myths of the Wild. Cliffs in the Forest video have been re-encoded in better quality.

March 2, 2005:

First demo recording for the new album has arrived: Grass Dance. Not a traditional tune but truly the pure folk! Let's call it Siberian folk. Played on the recorder, the khomus and the classical guitar.

March 1, 2005:

The old guestbook has been replaced with the one with better SPAM protection. I'm already worn of removing it.

February 21, 2005:

T-shirts with the Efenstor's logo on have been added to the shop!

February 18, 2005:

Added the song Taiga played on the Altaic khomus. Only khomus. I just recorded it for fun so this is not a pre-production sample for the new album. Nevertheless enjoy the sound of Siberian nature!

February 14, 2005:

It seems like my next album won't be like anything else I recorded before: very high sound quality (I'll do my best), live acoustic instruments (including the Alatic khomus!) and a lot of new musical ideas.

January 28, 2005:

Good news: the new album will be recorded digitally in 96 kHz and 24 bits and wholly live, may be only except drums. I repeat, I'm through with trackers and loopers, I can play instruments myself. Bad news: it won't be out soon, may be only in the beginning of 2006, though I think I will publish some pre-production samples from time to time.

January 16, 2005:

"The Slopes of Andersnatten" (EP 2002) has been re-mastered and re-published. Go to the discography page to check it out or to the online shop to buy it. Wait for the re-mastered versions "Out of the Caves!" (2003) and "The Voice of Peregrination" (2002) soon!

December 8, 2004:

Miscellanea have been rearranged. Some poerty has been added.

December 4, 2004:

Some miscellanea have been added.

December 3, 2004:

The MP3 of "Dauðurá: the Dead River" added.

November 29, 2004:

Hello there! As you see, my site has got a new, forest design. Well, the time passes and the things are changing (though I hope not too fast and not too much!). I have decided to cease using the tracker alone in my musicwriting, it has become too narrow for my musical ideas. In future expect much more live sound: keyboards, classical guitar and the recorder. Plus one more step ahead: now all my music will be issued on professionally mastered audio CD's! For now you can buy my lastest album "Myths" (2004), just go to my online shop and check it out. I'm also working on rearranging and remastering the older albums, check out my discography for the almost full list of releases.
